2000 rupees to buy a bucket of water! Hakar in Bangalore
Bengaluru is in dire straits for drinking water, even for daily use. The situation has reached such a terrible level that to buy a bucket of water from outside one has to calculate 1000 to 2000 rupees. In some cases even that price is being exceeded. For the past few days, pictures of such 'water woes' have been emerging in Bengaluru.
The local administration claims that the demand for water has increased as most of the tube wells in the city have dried up. To meet that demand, even when buying water from outside, the local residents are suffering because of the price.
The housing authorities of the city have already issued a notice to the residents, not to waste water in any way. Not only that, water consumption should be reduced by 20 percent every day.
If someone does not obey this 'rule', then he has to pay a fine of 5 thousand rupees. As a result, the residents are in more trouble. Not only that, in such a situation there is a long queue. As a result, many are returning home empty-handed without getting water.
They have to wait with the uncertainty of when the tanker will come again, if it will come at all. A resident of Pattanager said that the situation in their area is deplorable. People are crying for water. He complained that in such a situation no one from the administration is coming and looking for the problem.
Although one or two tankers are coming from the administration, they are not allowed to take more than one pot of water. In the words of another resident, "There is no water for bathing in the house. Five people in the family have to do the work with one bucket of water.” Source: Anandabazar Online
